I have a 01 36 Putz and the 4th section (when on the slow boom setting only) is slow going out, almost not moving at all. All other functions seem normal. I watched the manual valve handles today and noticed it did not seem to open the valve as much as the others, maybe half as much as the other(again this is the slow setting so maybe 1/4 of the way open, while the rest appear to be going 1/2). My question is what can i do to fix the problem? And even before that what might be wrong? Any and all help is appreciated. This message was edited by anmtcalf on 8-1-05 @ 2:30 PM |

Is your boom proportional? It probably is. You should get with one of the other operators and have him show you the correct way to adjust the %s to your own specifications. It is not a difficult procedure and should be learned by all. |

I know all about the user adjustable setting but for the last 4 years have never used it. and this just started to happen last friday. The user adjustment would just be a bandaid for the real problem. and that is what i want to get fixed. |

You indicate that the manual control is only activated to 1/4 of its potential. Has that been the case for the time you have run it? It seemed important in your unedited post. Is it moving less or is there slower cylinder action from the same 1/4 movement? |

the valve is moving less. and this has not been the situation the whole time, only the past couple days. Also it moves fine the other way and when the boom is set to full speed. and i can maually move the valve without any noticable problems. |

Does this happen with both the radio and hardwire? |

Also....... you could change the coil with the one next to it and see if the problem follows the coil.OR when you have the coil off there are two little spring loaded plungers protruding from the spool block. These should be out and even. If one of them is lazy like 1/2 way in chances are that is the problem. |

I exchanged the coil with the one next to it, and the problem followed the coil. But with the other coil on it is still a little slow, but i believe that that section could of been a little slow as well. there that 4 plungers between the 2 coils: 1 was sticking out, 1 was in(those one one coil), on the other coil the plungers were even with the body. should they be even or protruded? After all this, the problem did follow the coil so a new one is ordered, the forth section still is a little slower going out then it is comming in. any ideas? I do have a 2 coils ordered because i am wondering if the other coil is a little bad as well. thanks again for any info. |
