I heard from a guy the other day that you could tie a plastic bag around the sponge ball and it would help with cleaning the pipe and the ball. Of course, I tried it today, but put a block of foam in front though. Seemed to work pretty well. I tried the blue go-devil for a while and really liked it, but got it stuck the past two times in the boom, so it's just on the truck for a backup right now. Anybody tried the plastic bag trick?? And r there any techniques for the go-devil?? |

Is it the 4-rib go-devil? I had an operator, in Dallas, that cut them in half (2 ribs). He said they would not get stuck in the 90s and they cleaned well. The two halves usually lasted him almost 6 months. The trick was not sucking them into the (Schwing) gate valve and chopping them up. |

it works and makes your sponges last longer just make sure the sponge is wet or oiled so if you get a hole in the bag you will still have some suction. |

I use any bag or plastic I can find on the job site, wet my sponge, put the tie in up, it help bring the sponge back if your pumping dry, the plactic helps with glide and proves suction ( that's why you put the tie end up) however it will leave build up in your pipe line....Not for everyday practice in my experience :) |

We used to put cheep $$ open cell foam sponges into plastic bag's to help create a seal. Otherwise the pump would suck air through the sponge. Normal orange sponges are closed cell and won't allow air to be drawn through them. Another option in a pinch was Nerf socker balls. |

I use a bag everyday. It keeps concrete from getting sucked into sponge. Don't even have to wash it after you pull it out of back end. As far as build up from everyday use. I do not agree with that. |
