USE MORE WOOD, big wood, long wood, heavy wood, who cares, who are operating these machines, operators or fuckheads on jobsites, get your act together, do it right......

I am very much a proponent of dunnage, but in these cases I just dont know that it wouldve helped,Ive had issues with underground problems not revealed until outriggers and dunnage are 6 ft in the ground,so yes wood wood and more wood, but most important ask that question is there any underground hazards I should know about. This may help may not but if you ask and they say no,you have done about all you can do,but those wouldve looked alot better if dunnage wouldve been under each outrigger but I still believe unless 8' x 4' matts wouldve been used they was goin over regardless.

Many years ago in Denver, the united bank building (cash register).A 110'Whiteman punched a rigger,a uncharted tunnel were famous for.No damage or injuries, other than shorts.I'v always felt a second vehicle carrying dunage/oiler was a good thing.

pudgy, my thoughts exactly, i rest my case, big dunnage for the unforeseen, must be mandatory, just to protect the dickheads out there and keep the mexicans alive, lol,

Just like bringing a large crane on the jobsite, it's up to the contractor to bring everybody up to speed on site conditions.  Do you think for one instant they [crane company] would put a 500 ton crane on site (with less outrigger pressure than a 52 meter [ counterweight ]  without having all liability contracts signed sealed and delivered than you should be in some other line of ???????

dunnage or not, if there is an unknown void underneath a working side outrigger it will punch a hole through it. i personally know an operator who did it just like you said, with 6x6 dunnage and pads. he even did a stretch test before priming out and bounced over the outriggers. everything was good until he stretched back over with full pipes and the ground gave way due to an unknown water line underneath ultimately killing the hose man. day after 9/11 too. it was a fun week. so to sit there and yell your head off accomplishes nothing. sometimes unfortunate shit happens. and we all pay for it.

21c your a moron!! First thing you need to worry about is cleaning up your mouth. Show us some pics of this so called dunnage that you haul around all the time! I hope you don't talk to people on the jobsite, the way you talk on this message board. I have no idea who you are and already think your an idiot!!

There was a time whe set up a topic and start a discusion, agree or not agree but bee nice. and keep to the fact.

In my opinion when you have to set up near a new build basement you  have to go back to the 1/1 rule

all i can say is putting to many timbers down will not hurt and pads on there on a point less. also 2ic you are a great teacher thanks for teaching me to keep the tyre side down.

even on concrete you can never be to sure.

See you were smart enough to move on both setups.

THE OBJECT OF DUNNAGE IS TO MAKE YOUR FOOTPRINT LARGER, TO DECREASE THE PSI ON THE GROUND ON WHICH YOU ARE SETTING,JUST STACKING UP WOOD WITHOUT INCREASING YOUR FOOTPRINT IS USELESS IN MOST CASES,I SEE SOME PICS WHERE THE SAME SQUARE INCHES IS BEING COVERED JUST STACKIN WOOD NOT DOIN A WHOLE LOTTA GOOD,I DO BELIEVE SOME OF THESE ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS ACPA,CPMA SHOULD HAVE DUNNAGE CLASSES TO TEACH PROPER DUNNAGE TECHNIQUES.AND FOR THOSE THAT SAY SHE WAS GOIN NO MATTER WHAT (I WAS ONE) WE NEVER WILL TRULY KNOW BECAUSE DUNNAGE WAS NOT DEPLOYED SO WE ARE GUESSING,AND FOR THOSE SAYING IT WOULD NOT HAVE WE DO NOT KNOW THIS AGAIN BECAUSE IT WAS NOT USED,NO ONE COULD SAY MUCH IF IT WAS USED THE OPERATOR HAD DONE EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO AVOID A CATASTROPHE NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS UNDERGROUND.

setting up on concrete is not always a smart thing. you can`t tell how its reinforced. for example!!

SUPERDOFFER 04-21-2010
