Anyone Ever Had A Hose Explode While Taking Pressure Off From Plug?

the other morning i had plugged up my 3 inch hose. when i started pumping it made it to about 3rd hose and plugged. so i rant to my pump backed it off pounded where plugged up and went back and put pump in forward and it had plugged up a lil further down. so i had pumped idle turned up and had my volume up just a bit higher than usually would and i went flipped the switch into reverse to back the pressure off again and when i hit the on switch it sounded as if it plugged in reverse. so i quickly shut it off and turn volume up a lil more and switched it back on still in reverse and just like that pow!! the hose that was connected from my reducer had exploded on the end that was connected to second hose. didnt make huge explosion didnt shoot concrete but about 1 foot around the hose. now i know for a fact it was switched in reverse thats no question in my mind. is it possible to blow a hose while backing pressure off??? when i broke my gear down the concrete had made it up to the 4th hose and when i was shaking out second hose from reducer i noticed that big ass rock that was in mix bulging my hose out and i hade to beat it out hard to get it out of line. wtf happened anyone have a clue>?

Asolutly,don\'t remember the date but remember the historic day !!.

Had to labor for a boom operator (I was one also).Boom + about 200\' of 4\"in a commercil basment. At the time he backed off the plug KAZAM,a 10\" hose blew and 3 of us got it in the face.Thank god for saftey glasses, but still got in eyes.

What caused it?.Even though the switch was in reverse the valve didn\'t make the change yet.

The day,the day we lost the challenger.

Yes it can happen. My best piece 2.5\" blew up in a guy\'s face 15\' from the plug. And it was my best hose.

thier are some times when that happends i agree with many though. i usually play with it a bit till it does go into reverse. you han it in reverse but the pump was still going forward because lik what many said the valves didnt catch the signal.

you should get the boss to invest in a wireless remote with forward/reverse. its easy to hook up and it will save alot of time and trouble. i loved it soon as i started running a pump with it.

interesting; when i am washing and come to a stop, hit reverse then engage the tube shifts for a moment then it shifts again promptly like there was not a full stroke. not sure which way the drivers where going but if it was finishing the other side and added pressure i could see that happening.

I had a problem like that with a twin circut long rock valve.  I got a rocky load and the valve wouldn\'t switch over, but the pistons kept stroking.  By the time I realized what was going on, I had rocks all the way up my deck pipe and no way to reverse the pressure.  I ended up dumping the hopper till\' the valve switched again.

On another schwing I run the whole system will stop moving if the rock valve is jammed (just like if the dump valve is on) so you can\'t build up pressure.  I don\'t know why there is a difference, but it is pretty scary to have a system pressured up and no way to reverse it, especially if you don\'t know what has happened.

ya about the wireless remote situation. when i started with the company im with just about a month ago the first thing i wanted to know about was the remote set up on truck i was getting. not only was i hit hard with the fact it was hard wired but also got hit with the fact that the hard wire just had on off in forward. no reverse nothing. i asked if it could be hooked up so id atleast have reverse as well but it was a no go. my plan and very much hope not to be on a line pump for long and hope to be on a boom sooner than later. but i have 3 guys in front of me that get a boom first so i was thinking that if it looks like ill be on line pump for awhile id go to the boss and offer to even pitch in on a wireless set up, it would be well worth it to me to pitch in a few of my own money for a wireless because in my opinion it would make line pumping so much easier and more content to deal with until i do get on boom. but thanks for the reply

The Sany pumps go to reverse automatically when pressured out. I wish all other pump mfg\'s would do the same. It might save us from these incidents.
