If there is anyone on here working through a union or whos company is unionized could you let me know which org. it is.I am in a union shop here in PEI and me and the other operator feel we might be getting the shaft as far as wages are concerned and we are trying to get a better idea of what typical wages are for unionized operators. We both realize that there will be a difference from region to region but a general idea would help us out a lot.

If you are union you must have a local office and business agent. You should also have a union steward in your company.

It doesn't matter what any other local is paid. What ever the agreement is for your local is all that matters. 

We have all that but the problem is , is that pumping is a relatively new concept to this place and our steward is a self serving SOB and the union rep isn't much better. We are currently in the process of trying to make some changes but as of right now we only get a dollar more than ready-mix drivers and thats only because we are listed as belt truck operators.

A new contract is coming up and we are aiming for a operators position specifacally listed in the contract so I was trying to get a very generallized idea of what operators are making.

Get the guys that are union and have them e-mail you outside of this message board. I knew you were either coming up on negotiations or you didnt have a steward (some smaller shops dont). Put youe e-mail address on here and ask the guys to do it that way. You won't get static from the hardliners and people that don't know jack what it is like to get treated as a 3rd class citizen by those dirt workin' crane operatin' wage thiefs. Bitter? No, just have 15 yrs of sweet heart deals with owners and union folks in 300.00 loafers drin a Lexus.

I was an OE in Alberta and i felt that they didn't fully get what it take to run a pump by yourself and the wage showed it.  a crane operator was almost doubling my $/h and i was ruuning a stick 5m shorter then his?  (and his set-up area was a hell of alot niecer then mine)  A riggle wagon operator made pretty much the same (if not a little better as a boom pump operator!!!  Thats when you love your job i guess.  And these are industrial rates.  Commercial rate...i'v said my piece.

Not bashing Union.  Just felt that the Boom Pump Operators Rate was not in ratio for what the job demand from the operator. 

Never seen a cranes cable go hard after sitting for 1h.
