Nice pics, but why are you short riged? Whats keeping you from being able to open your out riggers all the way? I dont see anything keeping you from opening them up all the way.

Good Point, So I investigated this Myself.

The Client would not allow the right rear outrigger to be extended as it is on a Road. The rear would impede on traffic and the front does not.

Jon Performed an Operators Concrete pump set up check sheet and performed a risk assesment for the job. Diagrams Drawn showing how the pump was to be set up short rigged and the Control measures.

The Contractor is then asked to sign the Short rigged Risk assesment signing that they accept responsibility for short rigging on their site as they have not fullfilled their obligation and provided clear and adequate area to set up the pump.

This pour was from March 2010 and I have jons risk assesment in front of me. Well done Jon. First class operator with great Paper trail to match.

The biggest risk for a US pumper is heart attack due to major high stress level. I stand short rigged almost every day. Whats the big deal? (when you know what your doing) Just don't forget where you can or can't schwing your boom. Just like you don't forget to brake in your car when you have to stop...

Does the agitator spin the opposite direction in Australia?

I am sorry Scott for my short response I really thought my Workplace Health and Safety officer Michael (aka Meales AUS ) clearly stated the reason for me short rigging,  defiantly more in depth than I would have given you, but it was still correct. I also forgot to thank you it is a great looking pump and pretty dame nice to operate, it is actually a Schwing S39SX  although it does say S41SX on the boom?? Now I hope I have cleared everything up for you, I will say I do work with some of the best “boys” in this industry and they are a joy to work with and for.

Nice pun schwing58

bisley57  the agitator does spin in the opposite direction here in Australia they even put the logos on upside down
