  i think what ice is trying to say is bob stop ripping the crap out of every bodys pictures were putting pictures on this web site for all to see are pride and joys we dont want to now about law suites or what company name is showing these are are pumps are pride and joy bob please give it a rest outherwise we will start losing members ! perhaps ask oe3 why no pictures?

I just got off the phone with Ice, what a good guy. Just so everyone knows he is not leaving the site he is just going to spot posting pictures for a few days to make Bob happy.

Knock yourself out, post all the pictures you want. Do whatever you feel like. Set-up and pour however you feel good about.

Just because you [or me] doesn't like something doesn't stop it from happening. Your not wanting to admit or recognize the negative consequences of posting unsafe or out of compliance pictures does not negate those consequences.

It is always easier to shoot the messenger than to confront the truth.

About five years ago, Todd asked me to talk about safety and to discuss questions and pictures in that regard. I thought that it was a good idea and would make SOME PEOPLE safer. I have invested hundreds of free hours of my time to live up to that promise. If I tell someone I am going to do something it gets done.

If and when Todd wants me to stop doing this, I will. I am trying to save lives.

Ok I just got off the phone with Bob and all is well. Bob does a great job as the safety expert nobody denies that. Bob is a huge asset to this website. I dont know what I would do with out him. I did ask him to be nice. I know that Safety and nice is not that conducive but Bob is doing a great job. Just remember Bob deals with up to 5 law suits at one time. He sees the damage, the death and the pain people have to live with when a Operator kills someone by being lazy and doing a poor set up. If Bob seems harsh sometimes its because his harshness is a direct reflection of the anger he feels when he has to deal with a death in our industry. Most people do not understand how much Bob cares about this industry and the operators in it. When anyone post a bad or unsafe picture it reminds Bob of a death or injury that could of been avoided if that operator just cared enough to do his job. Dont be a Bob hater just because he hates seeing you or the people you work with hurt.

I did ask Bob to be a bit nicer but that is like asking him to care less about our industry. I am glad that we could at least talk about this stuff.

Ice Bob also said he was not talking about you so dont be hurt.

i think about the layers and law suits but it aint going to ruin what i love doing and showing others what i love doin.  Yes I post only my 'good' pictures because of the lawyers and law suits.  And at the same time its forceing me to work by by the rules of OH&S, WCB, ACAP, Bob... which do save bodily harm and death.  If i want to post something and not get sued, it better be right.  -and if its not right, please say something-

I am a visial learner.  I have to see it to belive it.  My memories great but its short.  I have inproved more by looking at all my 'bad' pictures and reading this site then i have listening to an OH&S officer or sitting in an orientation room.

Bob, I hope you do not quit on your invested time with this site.  There are not many sites and people who give out information so freely and who are genuinely  our industry safer starting with operator.

The truth may hurt, but at least your alive to feel it.

ps - if the advertizing thing is an issue,  just remember that the OWNER has given us these pump to use at our discretion and give us a cheque!  the least we can do is show a little pride for what we do and who we work for.

Bob,

I believe that not showing bad things does not prevent them from happening. It is by showing them and discussing them in an open minded way that we draw the attention to possible hazards and together we can find safer ways to handle difficult situations.

We can see for instance accidents and bad things on the news every day. It does NOT make me do the same. It makes me think more about it and draws my attention to what can be the consequences of dangerous behavior.

Small things can have enormous consequences and tremendous human souffering.

I think that what you and every one contributing to this site in a positive way to improve safety and wellbeing in our industrie, is great. SO PLEASE, KEEP UP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING CAUSE IT ALL HELPS US IN OUR JOB AND OUR LIVES.

PS: It's not because I joke once in while or that I put up some controversial stuff, that I don't care about safety. By doing this I try to bring some things to the attention and hope that by an open discussion every one will get better out of it. Although I sometimes doubt that I should post things the way I do (the last thing I would like to happen is that some would do dangerous stuff because of my posts), I still believe it's better to show bad stuff with the purpose to prevent accidents rather then keeping it hidden and knowing that new operators have to find out be themselves with sometimes a very tragical outcome.  

Hey Ice, Out in my "photo"shop I got an endless supply of straps, hard-hats, safety glasses, pins...you name it! I even got a pump God out there somewhere. The last pics of this same job sparked a debate about ground compressions and weight distribution that got Bob so flustered he began to ramble and post pics of Mr.Bill?

Take the good with the bad. It may seem like a handfull of guys giving each other $hit, but in fact its Thousands of eyeballs all over the world and this very conversation could remind some rookie Kid to do something he may have otherwise forgot about. I was recently scolded by a whole bunch of guys for running my own hose! Bob was only one of many, however he does have a way of delivering a scalding with his scolding. I dont think these things are pointed out to an individual as much as they're pointed out to ALL the other eyeballs... And Kris, Put a hard-hat & glasses on once in a while will ya? Ha,ha... I got you covered too...<-><->...

Hi everyone !

Iám glad that I live in Sweden about  law suit , It is My boss and company that got the most of the "punish" if some accident has happend . But our system is not built on law-suits....

But I like to see others photos even if it is an "ordinary" pour , I maybe learn something from that pic even if it is a "ordinary" pour....

And I will continue to post pic´s on the messegeboard , I dont think everyone is looking in the "photohopper" . And I try allways to do it in the safest way I can , but it will allways be something  someone spots in the pic and shall "shout" about . And I will learn something !

But if it is a member with a profile that is blank , He or she can shout how much they want , I dont care !

If they dont can fill in their profile and stand for their opinion , why should I listen to them ?

He make's a list, He checks it twice, And he will let you know if you been naughty or nice and safe...

Bob, I always value your input on all subjects. If I could post pictures I would always value any critisism, comments, suggestions on that particular set-up/pour. Keep up the good work!!!!  I know it has made me pay closer attention to each situation. Thanks again.

I have never thought of constructive criticism as a bad thing, nor do I take it personally. I also think Bob has sincere intentions, by mentioning and discussing the deficiencies in this industry. I know where the door is and if I don't like to hear what is being discussed I know I can leave anytime. So in that respect Bob I respect your opinions, as I do each and everyone on this forum, I commend you Bob, as well as Todd for giving us a place to discuss the industry in it's good and it's bad. -Bill

I for one am 100% positive that this site and yes even BOB have made me a 1000 X's safer of an operator.I have had some "disagreements" with BOB but I respect what he has to say and on some things we have discussed he has changed my point of view.As far as tearing into pictures that are posted,Yeah some times he does seem a bit harsh But,He deal with the part of this industry that we don't all see very often,The..."Well it work fine the last time I did it that way" I think he is honest in his sincerity and just want EVERY job site to be as safe as possible! If perhaps you are unwilling to do things in the "safest" way possible maybe leave leave the camera in the truck.

shortly after joining and becoming active on this site I was setting up my 47m and when putting an outrigger down on a 2X2 pad I sank the pad about 2 inches and i stopped and thought to myself.."It'll be OK it has found the solid bottom of the mud".Then I began thinking what would that BOB guy say about this??..."DAMNIT BOB!!" I said out loud and then began dragging the 3X3 dica's out and re-set the pump. And since that day I have done every thing I can to be a safer operator at all time's and a better asset (or so I think) to my company!

If I ever post up some "unsafe" photo's I welcome any critisism because odds are I thought it was safe and was wrong and,I am always willing to learn from the wisdom of others ..I could ramble on some more but I really suck at this typing thing SO.in the words of that ONE GUY.

I feel as though some of you are confused about what this is all about,It is not about safe or unsafe pictures it is about the fact that someone said this site is becomming a pictuer gallery and they didn't like that so I figured I would try and make everyone happy and lay off on posting so many pictures. Not leaving the site just sitting back for a while. Trying to make those I look up to happy.Ice...
