when a fellow operator comes on this site and offers up a bit of wisdom and says "hey check this out, this worked for me in this situation if you find yourself in a similar situation this might work for you too"... this site immediately devolves into other operators attacking him and telling him he's stupid for doing it that way.... this place is supposed to be for helping each other out, not for telling someone that they're stupid.... some operators like snail. some like rabbit. one guy loves the water wash where the next guy is scared to death of it. for every operator there is a different method and level of comfort on how to do things. what we can all agree on is SAFETY FIRST!!! .... beyond that do what you're comfortable doing with your machine and quit attacking people for being comfortable doing something you wouldn't!!! |

I think a professional operator will or at least should always be respectful in the way he communicates with fellow operators and anything less will always lower his own credibility. Not that we all dont make mistakes from time to time but its how we handle ourselves when we make those mistakes that shows who we really are. |

I agee it worked out a bit stupid with that WW topic. But other operators should also give their opinion if they think something is wrong shouldn't they? If I would say: hey, there wasn't space for my outriggers so I shortrigged about half a meter and kept the 1st section straight up an drove over the shortrigged side and it went fine!! Than I don't expect anyone to agree with me. It's not the same but some things just go agains the things we've learned. Like reducing hoses etc etc... But again. It wasn't my intention to be so negative about this ww thing. Just warning that it's a risky method. |

I will only speak in general.Safety comes in all shapes and sizes, the human factor, the equipment are just a couple.Every operator should express 100% safety, not short cuts to impeed on this.Tips on making the job safer, easier are wonderfull. So,when someone posts it's "ok" to set up with one outrigger, lift 50' of hose,I draw the line. Stop and look at all the "preventable accidents" that occure daily. One of my several pet pieves is backing,a ground guide is just to simple sometimes.Agressive driving is another, ask the parents of those 2 little girls in southern Cal.So for the ricky racers out there,I won't cry for you. Every action has a reaction |

I agree. Everyone and everything is different. Everyday where in an unsafe enviroment. Everytime we put a leg down and pic our booms up. More operators just need to open there eyes as is to what we are trying to accomplish with the machine we are running. So many things can go wrong in a stroke. Know your equipment and if you dont for heavons sake ASK SOMEONE. I'm not the smartest but pretty good at pumping and mechanics with them. If I dont know or any of the guys on this site doesnt know or have'nt done then the maufacture wil definetly have a book or sheet or an answer. When in dought, DONT. These rigs are super expensive and need to be treated like they are. When there yours then do whatever but when there not treat them good. The better you do it will come back to you with days and days of worry free pumping. I treat mine like its family and its not even mine. PUMP ON |
