Chute safety

When backing a mixer remember where to place your hand on the chute.NEVER in a pinch point,NEVER on the end of the chute.Always have an escape route before backing a truck. If the driver is not looking at you, bang the fender and get his attention. If you see a new driver stop him 20 ft. from the pump to see if he knows how to use the brakes,in other words give the driver a test stop. Some of these newer trucks have chutes that flip open hydraulically, when activating one always make sure the area is clear before doing so.A little story;a few years ago two drivers were standing at the back of a mixer shooting the breeze, the truck was not running as it was the end of a work day.One of the drivers had his hand leaning on the fold point of the chute,a third driver thought it might be funny to flip the chute and startle the drivers, needless to say one of the drivers is four fingers lighter.NEVER put anything in the fold put that you are not willing to loose.
