There is a Stetter concrete batching plant on board. Under the plant there is a Schwing pump connected to a placing boom on deck. Below the pump there's a recycling plant to take the concrete and water from washing out.

On deck is a crane to take in sand and gravel. The ship can carry enough sand, gravel, cement, fresh water and additives for the production of 1000 m³ of concrete without being suplied by other ships.

The name of the ship is Beton Leader and it's my father's ship. Some years ago we were pumping alot of under water concrete and we were working closely together with diving companies. For some jobs, my father had the idea of transforming a cargo vessel into a floating concrete plant. I helped him a litlle bit with the technical side of it.

how do you wash out the hopper with that batch plant right over it? does it raise? and i know this might sound silly but where do you get the water to batch concrete? does salt water affect concrete or do you remove salt somehow?

Some of the ballast tanks of the ship are reserved for fresh water.

To wash out the hopper you can open a hatch in the silo between the pump and the plant.

Does your father need some pump-operator on the ship ? Or the excavator with the clamshell-bucket ? I have a friend who is a chef and make verry good food. She is coming home from a tanker this week .

I'm sorry Vasa. I wish I could say he needed a pump operator, a chef and a whole crew but he doesn't. The ship should be producing concrete in Dubai at this moment but due to the world wide financial crisis it's still lying in Antwerp. If you know someone who wants to buy the ship or who's got a job for it, please let me know. I think he will need a pump operator, a chef and a few other guys to operate the floating plant.

Damm mate... I have to show this to my wife. I've been talking and dreaming about this exact plan for about 3 years now... I didn't know about you guys.

Tell me honestly.... Did you guys ever made any profit? Or does your dad regret ever building this thing? Do you take in small customers to? Like pooring windmil foundations in the north sea and that kind of things? Light houses at remote places.. anything like that? My dream was to have it like this but than on a car ferry... So it would be possible to use it as a mobile factory and take some trucks with me to!!And a 60m boom or something like that.. I just never believed it would be worth the investment and risk.

If you want you can talk to me on my private mail . Realy interested in what kind of money your dad is thinking to get for this ship... Respect!!! :-)
