Most all companies say they do weekly tailgate meetings, does yours?Tailgate or toolbox safety meetings are generally 10-15 minute on-line topics viewed to keep employees alerted to work-related exposures. Topics are about health and safety issues that really exist on the job. They cover work practices, machinery, tools, equipment, materials, attitudes, and anything else that may cause or contribute to a work-related accident or illness.

From Sydney, Australia, I hold monthy toolbox meetings with ALL of my staff, NOT just the operators or line hands. It could be held at 4.00am, 5.00am or 6.00am depends when the first pump is due out of the yard.

We try to have them at least once every couple of weeks but at times we are so busy that not every employee can attend but there is always minutes from the meeting printed and displayed on the safety board. I think they are productive as most things that we are concerned about are usually dealt with in a matter of a couple of days.
