wow, just as I was hitting reply the message got admin edit. lol.  but thats ok.  I will still reply anyways, and I will try to stay as neutral as possible.  First, I agree, its frustrating when a pipe blows, from an operators stand point, and from an owners.   The operator thinking, "shit, now my truck is a mess, i'll have a tough time getting a ball back, etc..."  From an owner,  "shit, now I have to fork out at least 10k to get new boom pipe, times are tough, dont have the cash, guys want raises etc..."

The thing is, I do agree that some companies manufacture a better, longer lasting pipe.  My fleet has two different brands, and we have noticed a difference.  However, we have also noticed a difference in the price.  And it makes financial sense to go with a product that cost 25% less, and get 80%-90% of wear than what the other manufacturer can do.  At least there is a company out there providing a decent product for a decent price...just my two bits anyway. 

not only is it the quality of the pipe but quality of operator goes a long way in the longevity of pipe, the configuration on the boom, whether you run a reducer on the end whether you pump wfo all the time, whether you pump in Z formation, lots of scenarios go into pipeline wear its not always bad pipe or good pipe.

twin wall vs reg heat treated,mmmm,and I know the pumps.With single wall pipe a operator should be watching and rotating pipe,they didn't teach some people that tidbit.

PLease dont name the pipe company. When they say its your fault what did they mean by that. I know for a fact that xxxx is a good company and used around the world. All companies can have problems but xxxx is a good company.

Operator set up of the boom, material, rate of delivery are just a few reasons for excessive wear.  Pipe X can go 100K yards but then pipe Z only goes 18K?  Something is obviously wrong there.  Was it the same grade of pipe?  Was it used on a transit or government project with everything crushed, additives and low slump?  Was it bought through a reputable dealer or directly from the manufacturer?  If so, the correct way to handle it is through those channels.  In this tight market I'm sure that the squeaky wheel will get enough grease to figure out what went wrong and at least try to be able to understand what happened.  I know the company I work for would not sit still and lose a customer over a legitimate warranty claim.

pardon my uhh...stupidity, but what is powder coating?  And it really sounds like a bunch of miscommunication.  Personnaly, I wouldnt warranty pipe either if I knew someone altered it via extreme heat...too much liability.

Why would you go out and powder coat a pipe that is going to wear out?

It almost sounds like pipe may have been hit/dropped and damaged the inserts.Just say'n

Why put paint on it ? He probably like the finish of powdercoating.... Buy them without paint and save some USD and goaround with rustcolored pipes on the pump....

A powdercoatingjob is about the same cost as a spraypaintjob. The powdercoat is harder and will not so easily get a scrath compared to a spraypaint.

 I would also prefer powdercoated paint to the pipes - the finish will never be as nice as a brand new spraypainted pipes, but after a year and so on, in this business is the spraypainted pipes not as nice as the powdercoated. And a pipe probably last more than a year. If not, use spraypaint. 

Both twin wall pipe companies I know are great, dont jump the gun when one blows because I will guarantee the operator bumped some iron or maybe a tree hard enough to knock out the $liner.
