Well we have grown to the point where we need to start thinking about fleet tracking. Is there any one that can make a recommendation as to an economical way to track 8-10 trucks keeping the necessary log info for DOT compliance |

why not just have your guys fill out a road log if over 75 miles from their base (shop) ?
I think a road log is like $3.00 |

You might want to wait a couple months and Check with the Pump Magic guys. We should have a great solution for you. We are working on it now and it works with Pump Magic http://www.rapidappsinc.com/pm.html |

Mr. Perkins, After my DOT audit I learned that there a lot more reports that the DOT wants to see. Every trip needs to be logged, not just over 100 miles. A time sheet stating the amount of driving time and the total work time needs to be kept on every trip. PM needs to be logged by either time or mileage. Also it would be nice to know exactly where all of my trucks are at any given time. My insurance will also give me a reduction because of the security of being able to track a stolen vehicle. That gives me so much more than a $3.00 logbook. |

Check out Xata turnpike. It's an electronic log system that tracks just about everything related to hours of service. You can see where all of your trucks are at any given time, whether they are moving or stationary, and how fast they are moving. Also lets the operator know how much time remaining to a log violation. Here is a link to their website http://xrscorp.com/fleet-management-solutions/turnpike-enterprise-fleet-management/ |
