well here's the scenerio, i was waiti ng on a 1 yrd cleanup today, you know those small line jobs, any way, driver shows up and i ask him for a 5" slump,his reply, im about there , cool bring it down so i can see i said,mudd hits my screenand there it was , the most incredilble thing ive ever seen before, in my short 6 yrs exp. this was the first time i had ever seen a load w/1.5"-2.0" long pieces of wire, i thought no way, but the driver says the plant added it to the mix , the previous load had fiber but no eay was that fiber, ive never seen this in a mix before, and it wasnt like a small amount, the entire load was the same, i told the customer to look at it i didnt think it was pumpable, he stated that he's worked about 1/2 million yards in his carrer and never seen anything like it before, what do u guys think , has anyone ever seen a mix like this before . well i rejected the load then waited for a new 1,well it showed up pis wet, 8" slump or so, rejected that 1 too, finally got a decent yard and finished up, 6hrs for 11 yards wat a joke good thing it's friday and we got a long (2 day) weekend lol, you guts have a good one and let me know what u think. |

I have pumped this mix before, it actually pumped very well. We used it inside a cave, the steel in the mix was a substitute for rebar. We pushed this stuff 900 ft through 3" slick line and hose. Talk about build up though. |

Fiber never seemed to do anything bad in terms of pumpability. The grate had evil hairs on it, and it was easier to throw away the sponge than to try and clean it out. There was a ball of fuzz where the aggitator shaft bolted together. If I ever build a new house it will have that stuff in the walls and the floors, seems to help prevent little cracks. ;~) |

depends how much they put in for 4" you dont want to go much higher than 40 to 45 lbs per yard seen it as high as 100 lbs per yard not pumpable that way you need to convey it in that case |

Steel fibres. Bain of my life!!
Twintech (worldwide industrial floors) use these all the time. they say it increases floor strenth by approx 40%
I must pump these for them at least once a month if there in my area with my Schwing 34x. As a firm we provided twintech with at least 2 pumps a week id say 90% of there work is steel fibres.
Only requirements for pumping are a vibrator fitted to hopper grill or a man to walk on the hopper. Keep the mix as wet as possible and the fibres should seperate when they hit the grill. If they dont you either need less fibres or more water. You can normally agree a workable mix with them but every load needs to be trated as different.
2 types of fibres i normally use 3" and 4" both are a pain in the arse. and can cause an incredably long day of blockages. |

im trying to find a clip from a documenty called "grand designs" here in the uk.
they built an entire house from polystyrene blocks then pumped them full from the top down with a mix containing steel fibres. |
