agree with your thoughts operators need to be control feaks on hi rise constructon THIS IS WHERE THE STRESS FACTOR COMES IN and is very hard to deal with in the end just have to have your escape route thought out and explain the reasoning to contractor later  some times they see it other times they dont   best way is to tell them if we lose the line no producton till it is fixed then watch them work it out  with you

It wont last long. Believe it or not some contractors really do know their $hite. The ones that don't always insist on learning the hard way.

Stand clear and enjoy the show!

As long as it is done saftley using a deversion valve , go devil catcher with no hoses at the discarge end and a blowout cap with a air bleed off.

Why don't you just suck back the hard ball? You can do it with the diversion valve. suck back fill up hopper, pump into truck, and so on.Make sure you have a slurry port for priming the pipe to the mixer.

That's an awesome idea. It involves slightly different plumbing, obviously. But it is more controlled, and infinitely safer. Even if you used air (preferably water) for the first hopper full (or calculated volume) if there is an issue that the ball may not clean out a horizontal section ery well.

Hey if they paid for the system or are willing to pay for it if something goes wrong than let them have at. we had a lot of contractors think cause they did it once or twice they were pros but when the shit hit the fan and they fucked up just sit back and play captain save a hoe hahahah.
