After some 30 years it amazes me that people think there is a new way to skin the cat. I can’t believe I have been all that stupid for so many years…The flat rate will destroy this already shattered industry. Those of you that come into a market and start flat rating against the big boys what do you think there response will be ?

Those who are buying equipment and going out and cutting the rates what do you think the big boy’s response will be? They won’t park the iron that much I can tell you.

I can also point out that most of the time it’s not the small operators who bomb the prices. You get the “players” with the egos that ultimately destroy the prices. They figure there will be no retaliation to go in and strip the big boys…well there is fall out all over the market when this happens. I have seen prices in recent days that were prices of the 1970s for 845s with 35 cent fuel. This is shear madness. So what were these guys thinking? Oh well we just go buy machines in a depressed market and there will be no repercussions? Ego, Yeah nothing but.

i could not agree with you more dick tracy, we have a company here that is giving their machines away for free if you pump with them 7 or 8 times. i was asked if i would match thier "deal" and i said no way,with out  hesitation, and i got a look of disbelief like i was the dumb one.

Oh come on now,they wouldn't do that.It does amaze me still hearing these stories.One often wonders who gives them such hopeless ideas.You are right the "big guns" know what the market can stand and hold steady.I bet a list of marketing booboo's may be in order.

If I was a home builder and wanted CHEAP pumping service, here is what I would do.

I would go to my computer and generate a quote from a pump company, or make up a name of a new one. This quote would be just North of free, like - house slabs up to 150yards--flat rate $275. Now everyone knows that a pump salesman never saw a quote that he could not under bid so... next thing you know some monkey is out there for $259.99 for the same house.

You don't need to own a pump to screw up the prices in a town, just a PC and a printer. ;~)

my friend has a used bobcat 337 hoe worth apx 20K and he gets $125- an hour. well he has his other expences and other pieces of equipment but he grosses four times what i do

Yes the big boys , or those with backing will always stab you in the back.

What everyone fails to see is what is axactly going on, or who is being played.

In this depressed market everyone needs their share. What they are doing is using up the credit limit that you gave them, and not paying you, and the next time they need a pump and you decline, they just call the next dumb ass, because he will be right there thinking he is going to be paid. There went your price.

Has nothing to do with big or small, has to do with how we all handle our business.

Everyone let this industry go out of hand because of nothing but GREED.
