just a question wondering how much pipeline you boys carry? our company rule on all pumps on our fleet is to carry 40 metres of standard pipe (10 steels, 4 rubbers). this is on pumps in out fleet from a 16meter boom to a 42 metre, and greedys 52 carrys 6 steels 5 rubbers. and company policy is anything over 40 metres of pipe requires a 2nd man. how do you boys feel on this? are we carrying too much? |

We carry 50'4" hose, although with 80+ pumps this is probably not company wide. Also 1- 5", and a 10'4" trimmie pipe, and a reducing hose! After that it's pretty much what the operator thinks he needs. |

I carry 2 tip hose's 3" & 5". And 3 double ended 3" hoses. I find most contractors dont miss judge distance by more than 30ft. And we do hose system jobs by ourself. Granted we only use hose but, cleaning up 200ft of hose at the end of a job blows! |

Why do you tote so much gear? Doesn't anyone check the jobs? |

we carry 30' of 4" hose.Anymore than that they need a bigger pump, but we also look at 90% of our jobs, and we ask when taking orders if anything extra is needed-trimee,xtra hoses, etc. with weight restrictions we try to keep our trucks as light as possible plus if that trucks on the job with all of our system spread out,if we need it it's a hassle to try and run it all down.I worked for a company that kept 100' of 4" pipe and 30' of 4" hose on all of there trucks it was nice if you needed it but most of the time it was just along for the ride,in each territory job conditions are different I would get with my supervisor and see what he thought was neccessary to carry. |

It is mighty hard to keep your pump clean, right and tight with all that gear. It is too bad that no one is out checking the jobs. You must not have a manager or a salesman. Does the dispatch have a question sheet? We have found that it is cheaper and we can give better service by looking and asking before going. It takes 2 hours to get to the other side of Atlanta. If you go out of town it is a good long ride. |

if you are owner operator you cant afford to park up your pump to travel around looking at jobs. we ask alot of questions about the job but 75% of customers are liers or havnt got a tape measure. had a pour last week customer told me on the phone it was 18m3 but on the day i pumped 75m3! |

An owner operator is the bravest human on the planet. You have my admiration; I am awed by your daily bravery. At least the Lone Ranger had Tonto. |
