I've seen alot over the years but to see this today is just shocking. So is it just laziness or total lack for safety? YES THAT IS A 5TO4 REDUCER ON THE END OF THE 5IN HOSE.

Did you approach the operator and tell him that he was putting the hose man at great risk?

No I don't it wouldn't have done any good. Its just sad that sum ppl think its ok to put someone's life in danger and not care. You can change and fix all of things but stupid! Is not one of them and this falls in the really stupid category

If you are on a jobsite and see an unsafe act it is your responsibility as an operator to tell someone about what they are doing is wrong, and very dangerous. You dont want to hear at a later date that some hoseman got his face ripped off by a reducer.Your words may have an impact or they may not,but at least try.Apparently you are a concerned operator,so use your skills and knowledge to improve the safety on these jobsites. The operator may be a greenhorn and could use some expert advice. You may save someones life.

When i see something unsafe i just take a picture and post it on ConcretePumping.com That normally does the trick.

at least half the boom jobs around me are poured that way. I have a line pump so can't clarify, but when I see booms, most of the time there is steel at the tip

" When I see something unsafe I just post it on concretepumping.com this usually does the trick" ? I hope this is sarcasm . We all have a responsibility to speak up when we see a unsafe act , grow a pair and say something , at least you have tried.

It is common practice around this region to do this. I would never do it and can say if any of my operators get caught doing this would be terminated for safety reasons. As far growing a pair the pair I have are big enough and get me in enough trouble I dont need another pair.

well a persons well being was at risk , and nothing was said , a call to the company , a talk to the operator , contractor , and most importantly I'd have let the hoseman know what kind of danger he was being put in , but thats just me .

Not all of your statement is true.. Yes a call to the pump company was made that's how I know that's how I know and quote"that's how we do it around here".. And the contractor was also called. But I do know it was a seasoned operator.safety is everyones responsibility

Well they wouldn't have that far of a trip. They were pumping on the new hospital expansion. They we only 500feet from the ER doors.
