Thought I'd pass this onto anyone that may have replaced their water pump with a Hypro pump. I replaced our main turbine fan water pump with a Hypro pump (per recommendations from Bob) this past early summer. I didn't realize that it needs an occasional lubricating as well as winterizing during the freezing winter months. I shot some 15-40 oil into it along with some anti freeze, it started working and runs great again. The Hypro doesn't have a drain plug so, I put a "T" into the pipe on the suction side, with a plug to shoot anti freeze into it after winter jobs, also I can squirt some oil into it for lubrication periodically. |

Do yourself a favor and take off the end plate (don't drop those screws) and eyeball the rollers. It will only take 15 min's and you will be wiser afterward. |

We steal some air from the tank with our water hose and gently blow antifreeze through all of our lines and water pump when it's close to, and below freezing. |

Bob, haven't had to change the rollers yet, they were just siezed up and needed lubricated. The owners manual for the pump says to periodically use a oil and a lubricating anti-freeze, which freed up the rollers and it works fine again. I suppose they will need to be changed some day..... |

I am quite surprised that the rollers have lasted this long. Don't let them get too small as they wil chatter which causes wear on the housing and end plate. The good thing is that even if you froze it solid and killed it you would not need to sell your house to buy a new pump. Sometimes, cheap is good. |

out here we use hot water in the winter months that has not been good for the rollers seems to soften and disfigure them |
