I have an early 2000s bpa 500 with a spun crank Bearing. The engine shop quoted 10k to rebuild the turbo 4cylinder German Duetz motor. 

Another shop that specializes doing custom vehical builds said they can put a v8 gas motor in place for less then half the price. They tell me this new motor will be more powerful and able to run a good size air compressor as well. Does anybody see an issue in doing this swap other then the increase in fuel consumption.

I am getting this pump ready for the new gas v8 next week and would really like someone's experienced opinion on this if possible.  Hate to waste money on a whim to save some.

Watch the rpm so you don't over speed the hydraulic pump. You need to know what the Deutz was set at and limit that gas motor to the same.

I've owned a Case skid steer gas (1830) and now a diesel (1845c) the difference isn't even comparable. Diesels run much lower RPM with twice the power. Also cooler. I know one thing for sure, if you ever buy a skid steer never buy a Gas.,

i would be concerned with over rpm the pumps and torque(not power) with gas.

your custom shop is not doing you any favors. the new motor with core at hamilton in portland is 10K

1-503-288-6714 gas motors take different hydraulic pumps and your unit will be devalued

you need a book and cam and crank centering pins. once you get into that motor there will be other items to replace, maybe a oil pump that was the cause of one go down.

seen two rebuild blow up from the owner being in a hurry. use a really good mechanic to help you and you could have it going on a couple grand of parts. .

Fuel economy will go to pot. oil pumps don't like reving over 2,600 RPM. At that speed the V8 gas engine would be gutless. Contact Brian at Grout and Concrete, Pomona, CA. I think you are making a big mistake , I bought a brand new deutz motor last year for under 12k , and we installed it , I do not think that gas motor will hold up to the lugging and load that we put these diesels thru , but that is just my opinion.

The fuel economy will go way down and I am ready for that. I already picked up a used LS motor. The specs say it has over double the torque and hp at every rpm so we are asuming that is all the hydraulic pump recconizes. This shop specializes in these gm motors and is able to limit rpm in the tune.

The coupler was affordable to get done through a machine shop. Next is figuring out the bellhouse.

Motor is in and running great. Pumps water like a dream..

Travis appears to be in Canada.  I would assume that the $10K rebuild price is in Canadian $'s, which would make the job ~US$7,700.00.  This also may limit his ability to import a 'previously loved' engine from the US.

those are good pump cells to truck mount. you could go PTO and have a nice unit

Shipping and exchange makes parts expensive here as well as bringing in a complete motor. We get hit with 12 percent sales tax and broker fees on top of what you pay.

I thought about truck mounting it but don't want any fleet vehicles in my business at this time. Employees get paid well for usING there trucks. This also requires the need for aircompresors and water tank to be mounted to the trailer. I am hoping most of the hoses will rap around the rig.
