This is gonna be a vent thread, here it goes. I don't know how many of you change your own oil on these frigging Mack trucks. If these engineers that designed these engines had to change the oil just once they would realize how stupid they are. The place they put the 2 oil filters is almost impossible to deal with. There is no room to get a filter wrench on them and if you do you have no room to even turn it. After the torn tendon in my wrist and shoulder and all the cussing and screaming today I should of took it to Mack and spent the $350 and 2 days of down time and let their grease monkeys deal with it!!!!!.................I feel better......kinda. Oh yeah, when did Mack start using Renault engines. I just noticed that today. |

After ten years of pumping I just started doing my own oil changes. I do not know a lot about mechanics but I did find it odd I had to pull my filter wrench a part to get it on filter # 2 What a pain! |

Those macks are easy. Try changing the fuel filter on a new peter built cabover. |

how bout the late 90s mack and the oil spinner. next service, put a little grease on the ring, and not quite so tight; i found the filters tighten themselves. nothing worse then running of fuel on site; it dont get better if you cant get the filter off without puttin a hole through it. filter wrenchs seem to be a hard thing to find when you really need one. |

We have been doing our mechanic work ,with the exception of some "electronic malfunction" repair since '83.Cylinder replacement, clutches, material cans, boom pin replacement, and trust me ,it's all heavy. Now ,as far as oil filter R&R,get a plier type oil filter wrench,it will save you alot of heartache. |

Go to the Grainger website and look for "universal oil filter jaws" |
