Nice clean pump! Only one question, why do so many people continue to use a double ended hose on the end of the boom total ignorance and lack of safety for the hose man
|
||
Dont need one | 10-28-2012 | reply profile send pm notify |
It wasnt just the doublend hose look at the green piece of metal hanging off the end of it. |

i used the double ended hose because there was no hose man i was given heigth points to go up too and was there alone.. And the metal bend was what we were supposed to use at the time there |

Here we go again... Don't say I didn't warn you Nice pics anyway! What are you doing at Iceland? |

I hate the "green piece of metal hanging" makes the pumping very unsteady but if you do not use the"green piece of metal hanging" , you're eaten alive by the workers. at least in norway |

i am currently in norway, these pictures were taken in 2005 during a project i was working on for bechtel in the eastern part of iceland.. I went through a lot of hassle to try to change away from the metalbends to the reducerhose and as far as i know they are still being used in iceland and also in norway.I am avare of the risks of using these bends but they are useful when pumpinp in high walls |

I know. We use them to.. I just don't post pics here with them on the endhose. But it your own choise ofcourse. I just had to much discussion about it.. I'm sure that if you use your head its a smaler risk than driving your private car home after a days work.. I've noticed that the Norwegian concrete is much worse to get in your eyes than for example in Holland. I was a finnisher in Holland and got some serious hit of concrete in my eyes a few times.. (We only used normal 5'' endhose.) Ofcourse it hurt but often we could whipe it away and move on. But even a tiny bit of the Norwegian concrete in your eye and your out. You feel it for days. Its like there is glass in it or something. So you HAVE to have a good sulution for the splatter. A reduced hose is not always good enough. It can splatter at startup and stop and if you have to pump very slow..

Hey Numi, Do you guys have Mudsnakes over there? I've heard they're really good for walls, and I assume that they would produce less splatter because they lay flat until you force concrete through them... |

no we dont have them i am currently using a reducer hose for walls.. You have too start with all out and reduce power to make it flow just right.. If i try too pump slower it is like beating the inside of the form with a hammer and the splattering is very bad.. The safety awerness here in norway and iceland is not so high as in the states that is why they demand the bend both too support them selv on top of the forms (scaffolding is not often used) and too pump slower becouse of poor quality of forms.I know that we should sometimes say no but this is our work and you sometimes have too bite your lip if you want too keep your job.. The cement here is very acidic and i have seen some skinburns and i always have a eye wash kit with me and have many times used it too flush out from guys who dont use glasses nor helmets and if you try too point this out too guys you are just rude and they will call and complain about you... so all you great minds out there stop hassling me about this and try too understand the situation we are in and i am not alone on this |
