Got a general but important question.....do we only police ourselves in the industry or say something if we see another pump com[pany blatantly being unsafe ??  One other pump company here sometimes pumps on the same jobs as we do sometimes even right next to our pumps.....on a recent job I noticed that they use a double ended hose on pours (that is obvoiusly wore out) and on column pours they use a steel pipe with a shut-off valve built in.....obviously these are safety no-no's.....the other day i noticed the guy put down no outrigger pads on his rears while boomin off the front.....didnt say anything to the guy and my boss doesn't seem to want to ruffle feathers so what do you do ???  Let me get peoples feelings on this....

If you go scrutinizing others on the jobsite, they'll do the same to you. People in glass houses and all. If it's really blatant, let the jobsite safety guy/gal know so it becomes their problem. They may deal with it, they may not. Their choice.

Unless the other operator was putting my safety in jeopardy, I'd leave it alone.

 You could submit those pictures to your local AGC office, and OSHA without anybody knowing who you are if you think it's neccesary, but remember the glass house thing.

True on any jobsite. If you think he's a danger to you, stay away.

Just like in high school, there were some girls you wanted to be close to and some you couldn't stay far enough away from. I wasn't always smart enough to know the difference. (Think Bon Jovi.)

or if you do not want to throw rocks at a glass house send the pictures to me.  I have no problem bringing unsafe operation of pumps to the proper authority.

 My main point is if your going to preach it, live it. SAFETY FIRST, period.

y not say something to the operator mabye he has never been taught the correct or safe way and would appreciate some well needed knowledge from a fellow pumper. you dont need to chew on him but a little education wouldnt hurt.
