Dunnage has nothing to do with shortrigging. Short rigging is the ACT of not extending your outriggers on the side you are not working on and operating your boom between the fully extended ones. see the chart attached |

With the putzmeister oss system the 63m actually has 180 degree working range which it appears he is well within that zone |

ur right, dunnage has nothing to do with short rigging. Putz comes with OSS. your pic is not relevant to a putz 63 outriggers. |

I am concerned about the comment that outrigger “dunnage has nothing to do with short rigging”. There is a perception that because the “light side” or “off side” can float off the support pad under some circumstances that it is ok to skip any supports and they are not needed. This is FALSE thinking.
It is true the foot may lift off, but it is only temporary while the boom is opposite the leg, not during the entire range of rotation available. When the boom is in the closest point allowed, there is still a loading on the outrigger that needs to be supported. Since the exact amount of load is not known, best practices would be that this leg needs to be supported just like the primary (fully loaded) legs.
If you have Putzmeister OSS System please consult your manual, it is important that the outrigger positions are set properly according to working load and soil conditions stated in the manual and decals. TT |
