SUMMARY Services and repairs customer-owned and company-owned product, and also develops and tests machinery and equipment coming from production staff under direction of engineering staff and service manager by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
*Gain understanding of what and where customers believe they have problems with Reed equipment. Based on this information then diagnose actual problem with assistance from engineeering dept., tech data sheets, blueprints, or bills of materials.
*After arriving at correct diagnosis, develop plan(s) for and do the required work to correct situation, such as replacement of defective material(s) or part(s), rearrangement of parts or subassemblies, or re-adjustment(s) to some controls.
*Conducts tests of completed/adjusted/or repaired in shop or in field under operational conditions to verify equipment functions correctly.
*Performs startup and general training with customers in order to teach them efficient and safe operation and maintenance of equipment (trailer pumps).
*Provide technical assistance to customers in the field by way of phone, fax, or e-mail to customer satisfaction.
*Sets up and conducts tests of equipment completed by production in the shop to verify design requirements, general functionality, and to assure standardization and production quality is achieved.
*Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications, and other test objectives  to perform verification responsibilities above.
*Creates test procedures and records test results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS  Ability to read and comprehend procedures, instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write clear, complete, and informative service and test reports and related correspondence. Ability to draft test procedures. Ability to understand customer, dealer, and fellow employee’s requirements and respond by effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations, over the phone or in person. Ability to interface with engineering staff regarding variety of technical issues. Spanish language skills would be very beneficial.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply formulas and elec./hydraulic/mechanical principles to problem solving and testing situations. Knowledge of and ability to use a large variety of measures and units.

REASONING ABILITY  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete and abstract variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is often loud. Working conditions and environment may at times be harsh, dirty, uncomfortable and generally dangerous and difficult.
