I've gota 1990 Reed R3040 that I'm putting back into service. I'm just checking relief pressures and RPMs before I put any mud in it. Does any one know what the governor max engine rpm should be set to? I'm thinking 2350 rpm and have been told by the local dealer that they are "pretty sure" that 2350 is the right number, but it doesn't "sound" fast enough when I run the engine at that speed. The engine (4 cyl Deutz Diesel, 48HP) is rated at 2800rpm, but I don't want to cavitate the pumps by running it too high.

Why not go to the source? Call REED http://www.reedpumps.com/ once you navigate their goofy phone system (Habla Espanol?) Eventually press (what is it? 2 for service?) then whoever is closest to a phone will answer anyways, then play a guessing game as to who answered, because they never identify themselves (irritating) and ask to speak to Mike Wickstrom or Duane Remus, one of them will have the answer for you.

Greenguy, Jockey is right. Go direct to Reed. Reed will help you. No doubt. Great people. |

Thanks for the help - Mike said 2300rpm, so that's what it'll be . .. . |

called in - got to service through the menus, a guy answered (nameless, like you said), I asked for Mike or Duane, but they were both busy, so I got put through to a (nameless) application engineer. He took my info and question. Mike called back a few minutes later and left a message with our dispatcher with the answer. For not having any names, they sure are helpful. All kidding aside - I've talked with Paul before too. They're all pretty friendly and willing to help. |
