You got all these companies in SERIOUS finacial trouble and yet they KEEP bidding the jobs the same as they always have. I got a call from a customer wanting a pump about an hr and fifteen minutes north of my shop, and asked my prices. I have dealt with the guy before and knew who the other company was that he called when he don't call me. I gave him my price(which will still make me some money) and he says "XXXXXXXX XXXX said they would do it for no minimum and $100 travel. I know for a fact that their shop is at least an hr and 45 minutes one way. They were going to send a 36 meter or whatever comparable size pump the had in the yard at the time to do a 45 yard pour for no minimum and $100 travel. My pump payments are less than theirs and I CAN'T do it for that. I gave him my prices and he called me back an hr later and said they couldn't get him a pump when he needed it so he wanted to use me on this pour. I get so tired of SEEING and HEARING these prices and then hearing them bitch cause they aren't making money. I guess they don't realize it's not just them that they are hurting with those kind of prices. My prices are higher than theirs and I stay busy but still there is no reason to be stupid about pricing. If their salesman need a math class they can call me cause obviously they can't do simple math. My info is in my profile and I'm sure the people I'm talking about will see this and I will gladly accept a phone call from ya since you won't answer my calls to you.

Ever stop to think he wants to do it for xx amount and tells you the "Other" guys will do it for "this" amount?? And then when you wont come to the price he wants,He makes up some lame ass excuse as to why he is going to go ahead and use you any ways??...Just a thought!! Odds are you were cheaper than XXXXXXXX XXXX and THATS why you went and did the job

WHO?? - I'm with 95schwing - probably not. I used to think that but the funny thing is, a lot of the customers that I pump for that also use XXXXXXXX XXXX will show a quote from the other guy if you just ask for it. There are several pump companies in north TX and southern OK that are close or are in bankruptcy(I am not one of them). Funny thing is, they are the ones that keep the prices all jacked up. That's what got them in the situation to begin with, or that was a big part of it. I blame the salesmen when it isn't all their fault. A lot of them were taught their sales "techniques" by the company they work for(or the company they used to work for that is no longer in business). A lot of times it's the head monkey that does the pricing and that makes it even worse.
