I just went to work for a new company running a 42 meter schwing.  All I've ever ran before are putz's for four years.  The boom on this thing is really messed up.  I talked to the mechanic about it and he gave me the 5 minute course over the phone on boom adjustment on schwings.  He told me to lower the ramp up-down, lower the threshold, and the start and also the other parameter that i cant tink of what its called right now.  I did this and it didnt help.  All it did was move the point that the boom engages off center on the joy stick.  Now the mechanic is saying that the pulsar coils are bad, the only problem is that I work out of a satelite location and there is no telling when he will be able to get around to changing them.  So I guess my question is can these things be cleaned or just replaced?  Also when you use three or more functions at once it starts making this whining noise and only two sections/functions will move....Its a 98, so am I just aking too much from an old pump or can something be done to correct this.  Any suggestions/comment will be greatly appreciated!!

 There is an electric over hydraulic solenoid in line with boom stack valve.Sometimes this valve partially sticks and does not allow all of the oil to go to the boom stack valve.

Whats your avg. operating rpm's? Those animals like to be reved up and dialed down.

I have never seen or heard about a problem with a Schwing pump that their service department can't fix. They are a sharp bunch. You need to be ready with answers for their questions; that is the tough part. Hang in there with them and they will fix your problem.

rpm's are around 1800 but ive also tried it idled down to see if that would slow the boom down on the slew and up on the 3rd...there is no proportion you have to black and white it

as far as i know you need to have a "key" to access the omnex computer before being able to change the boom speed. that might be why nothing happened.

I inserted the key and lowered the values but the only hting that it changed was where the boom "takes off" from center on the joystick

Some people say you HAVE to set the parameters when in "rabbit" mode on the remote box, so that once it is set, switching it to "turtle" mode will slow all the functions to half speed. Here is my suggestion. Try adjusting all the functions in turtle mode, since this is the normal setting most people use when pumping so you will have more control. Turn all ramp up/down settings to absolute minimum. Set all max power settings somewhere between half way and 3/4 speed. Then you can adjust where each of your functions kick in and out by setting your minimum power parameters. Pay attention to your hand valves when adjusting the parameters. When the hand valve first begins to engage it should vibrate, or pulsate. If it engages all the way right off the bat it means your pulsar for that function is shot and needs replacement. You can attempt to clean them by removing with a 21mm wrench, and spraying the tiny orifice with cleaning solvent. Make sure the tiny screen isn't clogged up, and don't lose the small o-ring that is located at the tip end of the pulsar. hopefully this info helps you find your problem.

I had a 98 it took me a while to figure out. It kept loosing perameter memory I ended up changing a card in the computer. I found you can't set the start perameter at 0 you have to do at least 7- 15 for some reason it makes it less jumpy. you have to learn how to easily set the perameters on each function using the "comfort touch computer" Watch the handles start to viberate. What I did was use the best pulsars on the important functions like swing mode. You can change them around.

I agree with pump monkey, set your parameters with it in turtle mode. make sure you save your setings you like before removing the "user key". call schwing in minneapolis, mn and ask for Lyle 1-800-328-9635. They are life savers.

It sounds like a self tought "adjustment-master" got in and messed with the cards!
