Just wondering,       how many folks charge an extra fee for system over a certain distance ( ie. 250')   and how much $     ????

how many of you guys get "" harassed for not working the hose.      We have one guy in this area who ( by himself ) works the hose and the remote.   ("   Yes an accident waiting to happen....but it makes it hard on the guys who are more safety concious! )    I've been told by my boss that except for set up,   clean up, and helping to move hose while the pump is off,   I'll be out of a job if I work the discharge end of the hose.

Back in the 80's I ran a company with 20 small line pumps. All Mayco C30's I can still hear that sound in my head today. We ran the pump, the hose and the remote. We walked walls, slabs and you name it we did it. 1 man per pump with guys who did not speak English very well to help with the hose. I am not saying it was the way to go and not the safest either but that is how the market was back than and I think its the same today. At the end of the day I was brunt out, dead tired and took a nap on the floor before cleaning up and eating dinner. What a life ha.

Oh and we charged for anything over 200' every 50' was $25.00 more.

Hi , mr. Bill if you check with the concrete pump manufacturers association (CPMA web site) for use of the pump, you will find that if your pump is running you must have your hands on the remote at all times for a quick response in case of emergency , if you are handleing the hose and have to find your remote to shut it down , those lost seconds can allow a build-up of presure that can severly hurt some-one.

On the other hand , with a line job I use a hose hook ( steel bar with a hook on the end 3 ft. long or so )to help with shaping the hose keeping one hand on the off button always, simply explain why you have to keep your hand on the remote and if you must stop to repossition your hose then do so .

Play Safe Guys !!

I set up with 125' anything over that is $1 per foot. I am an owner operator and man the hose and remote at the same time. No saftey issues here. Gotta use your head buy a good remote and be able to hit it within seconds. mine is on a swivel on my right hand side belt loop and I can hit that motha like quick draw McGraw.

First off your boss is right.

If you happen to be a member of ACPA or any union or get on a job that has an accident with the pump and  OSHA shows up the first question asked is where was the operator at the time the accident occured? A operator is to never leave his rig while it is pumping or be within ear shot of itand not on the end of the hose.

If you are placing, meaning running the hose, you open you or your company up to a law suit if something is placed wrong on that job. Never run your hose and yes over 200' usaully is a $1.50 a ft.
