Hi all, I have been informed there is such an item that can be placed into a concrete line (4 inch, connected to Schwing 3500 static pump to be precise) that can "reduce surging". I have not personally seen such an item, i'm thinking maybe some sort of "air release valve" but this would only get blocked with concrete and be unable to get cleared if welded onto a pipe for example? Any opinions would be grateful. Thanks |

S Tube pumps don't use surge chambers only Ball Valve pumps there were some guys tried to make one like I said tried it didn't work maybe slow down a little |

The amount of surging force in a concrete pumping line especially at a bend is greater than you think. I had this proven to me by an engineer...stupid math stuff... Proper tie downs and deadmen are the way to go. Message me if you need some help or suggestions.

Surge T. I haven't seen one for sale for a long time. Conforms and Duraflow used to sell them in 3" 4" & 5". They work pretty good in some applications especially for low slump with small line. The T placed early in the delivery system after the reduction eliminates some of the impact at the beginning of the stroke by allowing material to surge into the T like a shock absorber. I've seen some spring loaded ones but realized that's not necessary, if its air tight the material compresses the air trapped in the T section and works as a spring. They're fairly easy to make. |

There was once one that had some contraption in it. It didn't work well at all and was difficult to clean. The surge T I never found to be effective, especially with higher slump concrete. |

I am thinking more something hydraulic controled but based on this T-device. But the timing would have to be perfect. You could make a continues flow like that. |

Mayco developed an Auto Comp some years ago for 2" line mixes when using an S-Tube machine. It worked well, but was expensive and needed to be cleaned diligently.
