ROAD transport operators who for various reasons fall foul of the RMS inspection station at Mt Boyce make a regular contribution to state revenue through appearances in Lithgow Court. But rarely is there a penalty to match that imposed on a company prosecuted in the latest sittings. The company was fined $40,000 for an offence involving an overweight issue with a concrete pumper truck.
The court was told the vehicle was en route from Blacktown to Bathurst on May 10 this year when it was stopped for inspection at Mt Boyce. It was found to be 36.54 per cent over regulation weight over the steering axles. The court was told the permit held by the driver related to out of date regulations. The company, Corach Holdings of Kings Park, had a prior conviction in 2007.
In addition to the $40,000 fine Magistrate Fiona Toose ordered the company to pay $220 professional costs. |
