Like many things in this business that are Dangerous.Does any body pour foam walls? Yes a Velocity reducer can be dangerous, but like anything else we do if you use your head and can operate a boom you will be fine. I,ve been using one off and on for alot of years and have never had a problem.Belive me on foam walls you will be glad you have it.Kids today |

Rookie,I find that to be true too. If you explain the safety aspect to the customer they understand very well. As far as pouring the foam walls goes, there is no better product out there than the CF reducing hose. It insures a steady flow at very low volume and has no heavy metal object on the discharge end. The Z booms are also a giant help in slowing down the concrete and making the flow smoother. Accidents, by definition, are not something we plan. They are what happens in an unusual unintended situation. To remove as many potential hazards as possible is the best way to avoid an accident. NO HEAVY METAL ON THE DISCHARGE END OF THE TIPHOSE is a good place to start. ;)This message was edited by Bob on 2-24-06 @ 8:56 AM |

Any metal tip is going to be dangerous , I believe that even a double ended hose is no longer acceptable in most areas ,, as for styro walls and or block fill try this , I use a three in flange fitting on a ten foot neopreme fire hose , the hose man cancontrol the flowby pinching the end to move from here to there with-out making a mess ,it works great but remember ,YOU HAVE TO BE FULLY AWARE NOT TO BIULD PRESURE !!I started doing this to get away from the double 90.PLAY SAFE |

For pouring foam walls and doing tie beams and cell fill we used to use a Rams horn reducer I thing the company got it from con forms it is a 5-3 reducer you clamp it to the tip 90 then ran a 3in wip end. It made a complete 360 turn hince the name. it really worked good in slowing down the flow of concrete I used it on everything from a 28m to 42 m with out a problem. It was kind of a pain to get a blockage out of the middle of the curly q but you just deal with it like anyother blockage. reverse the pump and get your hammer. LOLJeffConcrete aint for sissys! |
