Nice Brandon Were you able to use a sponge ahead of water to clean out at the end where the pour was?

no , it was over top of a dam and they were worried about getting concrete in the water so I capped the end and pulled every piece off and dumped it by hand

why did you not use the boom? not allowed or what.. i would have stretched the boom as far as possible and then use hoses

numi, the boom is not connected because the pump was plumbed for high pressure, for long distance pumping. The rear swing elbow and elbow that attach to the rear of the truck are not connected, so there is no transition from the hopper to the deck pipe. I was using the same pump to pump concrete through 2000 feet of 5 inch line.

I told them they should have used the little city pump we got, and setup in the center and ran 30-40 feet of line off the rear, then use garbro buckets and crane them over to me. They had a crane on site, and could have even used a fork lift like they did on previous jobs (same site) with a different contractor

But yeah, one heck of a job for 4 yards of concrete.. lol

The job I did today is a lot easier than the job that this guy did though. I feel bad for this fella!!

How much pressure were you pumping? Wouldnt your city pump do 300'?

Mister_Perkins 12-09-2012

It was only pushing 70-80 bar of pressure. The trailer pump would have worked wonderful on the job, but the trailer pump is in Canada right now so we cant use it :(. We have a couple more trailers, a 550 and a 750-18, but they are both being rented out right now as well

Am I wrong, but don't you just rotate a couple hoses?

Mister_Perkins 12-10-2012

yeah you switch 3 hoses and its not high pressure anymore. But the fact of the matter was still that I did not have any transition elbows from the hopper to deck pipe. So even if it was regular pressure, i would have no way to pump it through the boom.
