Truck mounted line pump

We're looking into mounting our own line pump on a truck to make a nice compact unit. Any body on here ever do this?  We're thinking something like a tk50-70 on a f550 or something along those lines. We're conserned about hopper height? Looks to me like some brands of pump guys are changing the angle of the material cyl to fix this or is this not possible? We'd like to have a 4x4 so height of frame is an issue. Any words would be good

we  thought  about  doing  the same  to one of our pumps, one thing that held us  back  was.....if  your  truck  unit  breaks  down  no  pumping  for that  day.  if  you're  towing a trailer  you can always  hook up  to  another truck  if  you have  truck  trouble.  not trying to be  negative,  but i run a  ''small''  business,  i have to  think of  all  the  bad things  that would  happen to  me.    other  than  that  your  idea  is  a great  one.

Good one, never thought about that part of it very true. We are also a small outfit. This would only b our fourth unit if we went ahead with it so everyday counts

TODD,  YOU ALWAYS GET  THE BEST  PICS.  I  REALLY  LIKE THAT  1ST  TRUCK.     WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING THAT NICE,  BUT WHEN MY WIFE HAS TIME TO EITHER SHOW  ME HOW... OR  JUST  POST  SOME OF OUR WORK  IN PROGRESS WE   WILL.

Yep that's my friends pump, Ken jr. I can ask him about it if you want. Maybe he has some plans.

I like the pumpcrete unit also, you could have a quick change ramp stile unit, say crane it off to another truck, or have a trailer chassis for it, hmm incase you need a trailer only, we have rented trailer units for some tower jobs, crane bucket fed for small pours at any level of the tower.

Pumperman 430, You had visions of your truck mount breaking down, "if it's a trailer find another truck to pull it." What about if your truck mount won't start ... just a push and a clutch start. Can't clutch start a trailer. If you have a truck mount with a donkey diesel, trucks a problem get it towed to the job. 4x4 mounts sound great, but remember the transit-mixer still has to get to the pump.

90% of Transcrete pumps in Australia and the UK are truck mounts, very rarely hear that a pumper has truck troubles that resulted on missing a pour. In the USA within a few years due the C.A.R.B problems such as California all new pumps will be truck mounted P.T.O powered to by-pass emission controls that are forcing trailer pump owners to re-power trailer pumps at around $ 10k to have the pleasure of a trailer mounted pump. It's even a better deal if you are at present pulling a trailer with a long wheelbase Ford F350 diesel or Chev diesel to mount your trailer on the present truck and go P.T.O. Kill two birds with the one stone.

You wont have to deal with trailer brakes,

bent or broken trailer axles, leaf springs etc.

two less tires to buy,

no more trailer wiring issues,

no more trailer DMV fees,

you'll never  jacknife a truckmount when backing up

and if you can go PTO you will have

1 less engine to maintain.

and only 1 tank to fuel up

and no more driving all the way to a job and the pump wont start.

I really believe the truck mount is way far ahead of trailers, cost per mile. They hardly ever break down ( almost idiot proof ) and carry on the low end of gvw as opposed to truck trailer. If for some reason one has to off site wash/run wet is way safer.

DIGGIR- the main reason we would like 4X4 is for the four months of the year we have to deal with ice And snow. A lot of time we can get in no prob but we go to leave job were stuck an no mixer to pull us out:)   Another big reason we'd like to make it a single unit is for this weight we can have just a regular class driver on it. And if have those weights And in a truck trailer the operator has to have A class 3 the same as a tandem boom pump

Hi Kevcon, Schwing had a small line pump mounted on a Hummer about 15 years ago at the World of Concrete. You would have loved that one! I will be at the World of Concrete with Todd and look forward to meeting you.
