years ago when we was tied to the pumps by cords and wire remotes, seems to me we was a much safer industry being your ass was tied to that pump and if it goes you go, if you hit a power line its running thru you, now we have a wireless no ones on the truck much anymore some do not take the setting up of this truck pump as serious if there ass was still tied to it. I myself like the wireless remotes, there positives outweigh the negatives, I know I found myself doing alot more maintenance, cleaning and such on the pumps while I was tied to them nowadays most ops are looking for shade or the warmth of the cab.jmo

wireless is definetly priceless, but make sure you've got the cable backup cause when they go they go, i was doing 20' stemwalls and it decided to start acting up, main droping and tip closing on its own, thank goodness i had my spool and cable,

oh did i mention it was on a 52 ;)

Your right, hardwire did present less trouble. With that said, booms were allot shorter then too.I guess it did make a better operator, mentally. There's trouble at both ends of the pump, tipping vs discharge end. With the insurgance of radio remotes it gave the operator better control over boom and accidents. This opened pandora's box,I see it as a nessasary evil.

Wireless for sure. But make sure you know how to run the machine with the corded box, it will the difference of night and day. Practice in the yard with the cord just to get yourself familiar with how the boom reacts! thats my .03 cents.....inflation!

I have ran bigbooms and yes wireless is priceless but I still believe you can get very complacent with the wireless being your ass isnt going anywhere if the pump does tip, I remember the feel of the pump pumping, the liteness of your off side, this taught me so much about pumping and now most new operators are taught without ever learning the feel of the pump just the controls on the wireless, I had a boss one time that demanded you be on that pump whenever possible, and I do believe he had a good idea,it just seems to me you are more in tune with your machine while you are on it.
