If you only have one or two booms they need to be roll and fold. There are "dead" spots (places or configurations your boom can not reach) with a 'Z'. Z booms are faster and come in handy for getting in some places. If you have a fleet, you better have a "Z". |

Faster? I think the roll and fold is a lot quicker to fold and unfold compared to a Z |

without a dout z booms r way faster to set up i mean bring it out of the cradle drop the hose and start pumping its that fast ... as for roll and fold u have to open the whole thing...and i say that roll and fold is easier to operate for sure but z booms can pump way faster because the boom takes all the recoil better there fore i choose z boom i been running pumps 12 years and i love the z boom ... |

I love my RF because it is mine! There is no question the Z has some advantages. For example has anyone ever tried to stand a RF up all folded up and pump onto a second floor as you can with a Z? Sounds risky! I never enjoyed operating in a Z. If you run a z in a RF style. When you have to get close to the truck you look retarded! As far as the speed goes. The pump is only going to move as fast as that operator running it wants to go. I could haul a#! on the Z I used to run. Seems like I could fold up and wash out in twelve minutes? Now it takes me like fifteen with the RF? Some days it feels like an eternity! I agree If you have three one must be a Z! |

As I remember a little bit more. The two RF I have dealt with if you had to pull 90's off they would go back on with ease. The Z was like an act on congress. Get the pry bars and some huge guys! I ran a 38 that was all wanked out! Must have been built on a Friday LOL! |

Z BOOM ALL THE WAY!!!! Have ran both, didn't like the Z at first, but now would never go back (if I had a choice in the matter). Although it took quite awhile longer to get "good" at the Z compared to the R and F. When you get your controls set right and understand exactly what works in a certain situation the Z is awesome and so much more versatile. |

Unless I got fed some bad info, I have heard that a Z is all that putz makes any more. A R and F is special order and cost more. Just what I have heard. |

that is true roll and fold is special order only ..and as for the 90's on a z they r hard to change compared to a roll and fold but still z is a better boom for getting after the concrete.and doing walls and such. |

Schwing 31HT for the win!! I can pour from approx 28 meters away to the quite literally running the rubber over the windscreen (not that i do!!)with only a meter or so clearance above the rigged pump (ie: a warehouse). its without a doubt the most versatile pump/boom design i have seen or used. |

My vote for the most versatile small boom is the 5 section 32. Sweeeeeeet! ;~) |

Mmmm the debate goes on Z vs R I have to say Z for me but they both are good I prefer Z because of tight places and yes operating a Z in an A can look stupid and you can have boom over placers and that is not safe if you are bringing the boom towards you. Just remember a pump is as only as good as the operator. As for fold up I operate mine in user mode and from being flat boomed to in the cradle 90 seconds flat. |
