I began my life's work in 1963 at a Concrete Contracting Company located in Chicago, owned and operated by my family.
The question of how to improve concrete placement for larger buildings and other hard to reach applications was often raised. After a bit of research, it was discovered, that Concrete Pumping trucks were being utilized in Europe for such applications. This discovery soon led to the purchase of our very first Concrete Pumping truck.
In 1964 I took over the full operations of the family business, and quickly realized that something had to be done to increase the profitability of the accumulated equipment. I decided to rent some of our equipment to other Concrete Contractors. This proved to be quite an interesting and profitable endeavor, thus prompting me to close the family contracting company and formally begin Original Concrete Pumping Service, Inc..
Over the next 10 years we accumulated quite a few concrete pumps, bringing us to the question of what else can we do to increase our market share in this part of the industry.. Our answer, begin to sell & service the concrete pumping equipment. So, we began to buy and sell used concrete pumps by acting as brokers and we became one of only two concrete pump service centers in the Chicago-Metro Area.
In 1980 we added our first full-time Sales Manager, allowing us to shift our emphasis from the smaller Concrete Contractors to the larger volume commercial Concrete Contractors. That part of the industry has a great demand for larger and higher volume machinery, exactly what we were selling.
The Chicago-Metro area, by all indications and publications, was enjoying an economic boom in large commercial, privately and Federally funded work. This brought with it purchase orders from contractors doing work for the Army Corps of Engineers, the State of Illinois, the City of Chicago and others, all as we geared up for the Worlds Fair in 1992.
As the years have progressed, our fleet has grown considerably to include Conveyors and various types of Concrete Pumping equipment, including the largest Concrete Pump in the area.
Based on current work projections, we have plans to use many of our machines ourselves in the Chicago-Metro area and lease out a few additional machines to local Contractors.
Overall, we are anticipating continued growth in the foreseeable future, along with plans to expand our area of operations to additional states.
